A Day in The Life Of Tree

Ps 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Yeepee…I found it…An African American Princess Party Package!

I’m getting a head start on planning my girls birthday party for this year (since their birthdays are only 4 DAYS apart).  My 2year (soon to be 3) is the ideal “girly girl” she always talks about being a princess and at times introduces herself as Princess Amber.

I really wanted a princess themed party for the girls but wanted my daughters to know that there are African/African American Princesses.  I want them to be able to identify with the characters at their party.  Ultimately I wanted my girls to know that God made them beautifully and the skin that they have is something to be proud of and not ashamed of.  Unfortunately, there aren’t many “African Princesses” being portrayed or characterized in the mass media for little girls to look up to.  So in my search to find an African American Princess Theme for my babies I found this website: www.uzurikidkidz.com

I am so excited about my new finds.

Hey, if you own, know of, or make any Afrocentric products please post a comment on this post with your website and I will review it and setup a link to your webpage on my blog.  I’m all about supporting up and coming businesses:)

Thanks for the encouragement! I also heard that its all in the breathing but I have a tendency of holding my breath whenever I exercise whether its jogging or aerobics. I will definitely keep that tip in my mind.

    Thanks again

I am also trying to plan a birhday party for my daughter who will be 3 next month. I want it to be either a Ballerina or a Princess party, but finding Black Princesses and Black Ballerinas, especially for partyware is like looking for the Holy Grail.

I did find the Princess Amira and Pepper & Penny Dancers on www. uzurikidkidz.com and again on http://www.rosemarycompany.com and http://www.cocoaprints.com — I am very excited about this.

Question for you, though — what products did you end up using and from which vendor? I am not familiar with smaller sites that offer products and woul love an honest assessment of how the customer service was regarding orders and shipping.

    Thanks!

Actually I was going to order the Princess Amira package from cocoaprints.com when I wrote the blog but my husband told me to wait a little bit since my daughters birthdays are in October. I have a tendency of changing my mind when it comes to party themes but I am still sold on Princess Amira and will be ordering from cocoaprints.com.

Okay Hilary this is exactly what I am talking about…lol
I saw the pepper and penny ballerinas and now I want to use this theme for my girls’ party since there are two girls on all the paper goods and the birthday party will be for my two girls! I tell you my husband knows his wife. :)

Oh absolutely. My eldest daughter is into ballerinas and princesses, but I think she leans towards the princesses more. My youngest is only 1, so we haven’t hit that stage yet, but when the time comes, I’ll be using it. It’s important for our children to have positive images like these. I’ll be glad when Disney releases the new Black Princess, provided of course, she is given the same due as the rest of them.

Oh, I blogged about my whole deal with the Disney Princesses, so if you have time read a rant, come check it out

FYI, I went to order from CocoaPrints, and they are not currently shipping to my area. As my event is closer than yours, I ended up ordering from UzuriKidKidz.com as they have the same products.
